Give the little ones a taster of a real spa experience with some fun DIY face masks for their skin.

You can either buy packs of face masks inexpensively from Boots or Superdrug, or have a go at making your own all-natural face masks.

Simply mash up half an avocado, mix in a tablespoon of honey and apply to the face for a super moisturising face mask. Leave for 10 minutes, then wash off.

Be sure to check with the party guests' parents before letting them get stuck in though, in case of allergies.

Kids of all ages love a bit of nail painting, and it can be super fun for them to get creative with different colours!

Set up a little nail painting or manicure station – you can use nail varnish you already own, or buy a colourful kids' set, and have another adult help you paint their nails.

Kids will love being able to choose different colours and styles. And why not get some little nail stickers or sequins for them too?

Older children could have a mini manicure of sorts too – with nails filed and shaped before painting, finishing off with an indulgent massage.

Be sure to put down plenty of newspaper or an old shower curtain or similar though, as this one can get messy!

Perfect for younger children. If you're throwing the pamper party as part of a birthday celebration it's always good fun to get the face paints out.

If your little one has a theme, for instance a princess pamper party, you can paint on a cute tiara, jewels and glitter – whatever they want!

Older kids can even try face painting each other. And there are plenty of ideas online for face paint designs and characters if you're stuck.

If you're celebrating your child's birthday with a spa party, you can't go wrong with a mini foot spa. Kids will love getting their feet pampered, relaxing them in warm soapy bubbles whilst they natter.

Foot spas can be pricey, and it's unlikely you'll have more than one lying around. A simple hack is to use two or three washing up bowls.

Simply fill them with warm water and bubble bath and/or bath salts and let the relaxation commence. It's practically the same as a proper foot spa!

If you organise your spa party with three or four different pampering stations, you can rotate guests through each one, so everyone's enjoying a different treatment each round.

Be sure to have a couple of other adults on hand to help you though. And remember, you'll need to replace the water in the foot spa bowls after each use.

Older kids love nothing more than getting creative with colourful eye shadows, lip glosses and blusher, and a pamper party is the perfect time to enjoy it.

Set up a make-up station with kid-friendly make-up palettes. Things like glittery eye shadows, eye liner, tinted lip balms and glosses and a light blusher work best for pre-teens.

You can either give them a mini make over yourself, or let them have a go at it.

It's a good idea to provide each child with their own disposable make-up brush each, for hygiene reasons, as well as face wipes for any accidents. And do speak to parents first, in case of any skin allergies.

If the kids are getting their nails and make-up done, it's highly likely they'll want to try a new hairstyle, too!

Hair braiding is super fun and looks great too, especially French plaits. If you can't do these yourself, perhaps enlist an adult who can to help you, or start watching some YouTube vids!

Youngsters love to get creative, especially when it comes to something pretty they can make and take home afterwards.

Pop to your nearest home crafts store, buy some string and colourful beads and set up a home jewellery making station.

Kids can enjoy making necklaces, bracelets, rings or other accessories, which they can wear afterwards as part of the whole make-over process!

This is also a nice quiet activity to introduce for younger kids who may have become overexcited with all the party fun.

Old or young, who doesn't love a bit of glitter?! Boys and girls alike will love decorating their body in fun temporary tattoos. What's more, they're cheap and easy to wash off.

Why not go for a festival vibe and have fun with some glitter tattoos? Think unicorns, butterflies, flowers, dragons, fairies – whatever it is your little ones love the most.

Just be sure to set up a table (with tablecloth or newspaper down) before starting, since if it's glitter you're using, it can get absolutely everywhere!

There are loads of kid-friendly how-to's online , and plenty of the ingredients you'll already have at home in your cupboards. You can even make them organic.

Get the kids experimenting with different colours, and then watch as they drop them in the bath afterwards. Or, they can take them home with them of course.

No matter what kind of party you're throwing, everyone loves a bit of fancy dress, and it's ideal for all ages, too!

If your kids' pamper party follows a theme, ask all the attending children to bring a fancy dress outfit to get involved in the fun. It'll look fab if you're doing face painting, too.

Fancy dress themes could be princesses, superheros and villains, animals, Disney or movie characters, fairies, angels, and so on.

Older girls and boys will love putting on a catwalk show, too. The perfect time to do this is at the end of the pamper party when they're dressed up, with hair, make-up, nails or face paint all done.

Once the kids are pampered, they're going to want to take some photos of their glam new looks.

Set up a selfie photo area with a coloured background and lots of cutout accessories they can hold to make their pictures look fun. You can buy packs of selfie accessories online or make your own.

Take the pictures with a phone or tablet or maybe splash out on a Polaroid camera or printer that works with your phone so your guests have pictures to take home.

Making your own lip balm is surprisingly easy. There are lots of kits specifically for kids on the market, these contain everything you need to make fun and fruity lip balms.

You can also buy ingredients and follow an online recipe. Most contain beeswax, shea butter, essential oils and coconut oil. You will need an adult to melt the ingredients but kids can put them all together.

Just remember to check for allergies with your guests' parents beforehand.

Encourage your guests to get crafty by having a craft station where they can decorate their own pamper boxes or toiletry bags to keep their homemade bath bombs and lip balms in.

Buy some plain wooden boxes or toiletry bags and give them a selection of stickers, stick-on gems, ribbons, pom poms and paint to go wild with their creations.

This is a great one for younger and older kids to get involved with.

In between all the pampering, you'll need to provide some party food of course.

You could keep it simple by providing pizzas – they're low on prep and cut down on washing ip. An indulgent selection of finger food will work well, too.

Or a fancy afternoon tea spread. Think mini sandwiches cut into cool shapes, cucumber and carrot batons and dips , crisps, cocktail sausages and cheese and pineapple sticks.

For sweet treats, colourful macarons are always appreciated, and work perfectly for luxurious, spa-like pamper parties.

You could also offer a selection of cupcakes with different flavoured frosting, plus chocolate rice krispie cakes and a fruit platter for a healthy balance.

If you want to turn the food into an activity, lay out a selection of fun toppings and sprinkles and get kids to decorate their own cupcakes.

What you put in the party bags for the children to take home after the pamper party will largely depend on the ages of the kids attending.

For toddlers and little ones, simple party favours like bubbles, jelly beans, small stuffed toys and crayons are ideal. Just be sure to steer clear of anything that could be a choking hazard.

For older kids, you can't go wrong with things like soft putty, bouncy balls, lego, and stickers. Although to stick with the pamper party theme, some related gifts might be nice.

These could include lip balms, hand cream, jewellery or a key ring, little chocolates, or the bath bomb they made earlier!
