My son is such a good lad, never in trouble at all, is well mannered and gentle. I thought I showed him how to function within society, how terribly wrong I was. Gaming and not wanting to go out is a Red flag that needs immediate attention. I really hope this helps anyone coming across this post.

Recently i felt like he was becoming a recluse, he lacks confidence to do simple things and although he’s an introvert like I am I also know there’s no need to be like this, there have been times when he has also ignored the need for the toilet and sat in his own mess.
I’ve put my foot down now, he gets 1.5hours on his game in the evening after his shower and that’s it, no games for good behaviour any other time because this was morphing into more regular gaming, I’ve put him on the waiting list to join cubs to hopefully get him out and build his confidence.
I regret ever buying him a tablet so young,it’s not the way to spend a childhood .

Hi I can really relate to this as I’m going through it now with my son, terrible anxiety. I know this post was written a while back so am wondering if there’s been any progress with your son?

Hello, I feel your pain my son is 13 and dose not want to go out! Just in his room playing Xbox and PlayStation, my son dose have mild autism but this dose not stop me want to try! ….. he seems to think that no one wants to hang out with him, his friends in school have all went in different circles as you do when going into high school, im worried as I do tell him to go out and honestly I think he would but just no where to go and no one to go with ? I feel it’s so difficult for kids now. I just want him to enjoy life but I feel he is dreading life in general just now, as a family we are all close, but he dose need friendships and his own age around him. I’m at a loss to what to do?? I do feel your pain xx
I wish I knew what to do myself. My 13yr old son same. Computer, games, phone. It's a different generation. They love their electronics. But I can tell you 1thing I do make him go places. It's a battle at 1st. But I try and pick stuff he likes to do!! Good luck! And remember. Teens are difficult. Aron
