I haven't bought any eggs this year at all, I am desperate to lose weight, have been really sticking to it since January and lost nearly a stone. Thing is I have zero willpower, I just can't have rubbish in the house or I will eat it. Last year I bought the kids eggs and secretly ate them before Easter and had to buy them all again. This year I don't want chocolate in the house AT ALL, I just know I will cave. Am I being a really mean mum to deny my kids Easter Eggs??

Could you buy the eggs for your kids, then give them to someone else for safekeeping?

Well done for losing a stone, it proves that you can do it if you put your mind to it so you should buy them eggs and even one for yourself as a treat, if you feel that you’re going to eat them all just buy them the day before Easter and give them to the kids early

It does seem a little harsh to deny them, although I do sympathise with your reasons! Could you leave them with your neighbour or friend until the day and maybe get them one big one and let them eat it on Easter Sunday so it’s there and gone in one go?

It's not necessarily mean but it is unfair, though how old are the children?

If anything like my family, my children would end up with eggs anyway from grandparents etc..

I think you should get them one, or maybe easter crafts/books/toy and a little egg?

I started to reply then had to go back to read again just to make sure I wasn't seeing things! You don't want your kids to have Easter cause you can't stop yourself eating their chocolate? Is this for real? Why should your kids lose out?

Yes, i think you are being ridiculous. Why should the kids miss out just because you have no will power. If you want to lose weight and actually keep it off you need to address your will power issues rather than expect everyone around you to change to protect you from yourself.

How old are your kids?

if they’re young then yes. You’re being absolutely mean.

if they’re older like in their 20s then no.

but you need to address your will power. If you cannot control your eating then it maybe worth going to the doctors.

however do not let your kids suffer because of your lack of control.

your kids would be heartbroken to not see eggs. Go buy them and give them to a neighbour to keep safe for you. Don’t let your kids miss out. It is ridiculously mean.

Yes it is a bit mean.... you've done really well and I get it, I'm the same! But it's a bit mean on the kids.

Yes...yes you are a mean mummy. Your willpower us affecting the kids enjoyment.

Buy the kids 1 egg and I bet they'll demolish it before you do anyways.

I like the comment above about buying them eggs and one for yourself. If you have one that is for you, you won't be as tempted to eat theirs. And it won't do you any harm or set you back to have one. You've clearly come a long way since last year so I think you've got this!!

I know when I was a kid I'd be looking forward to my Easter egg just as I used to look forward to presents on Christmas. They just taste different. Why punish your kids because you can't stop yourself from eating them? Can you not keep them in the car or a friends or familys house?

Well done for losing over a stone, but yes your being unreasonable. Why should the kids miss out? Yes your being very unreasonable. I'm losing weight and have had eggs in the house for the last 2 months and I haven't touched them.
