Maybe this has been asked before-sorry if it has.

I'm rather embarrassed to admit this but I'm a mum with NO hobbies and I'm just wondering if I'm the only one?

I have 3 kids 20, 15 and 10 but I only work about 17hrs/week, wide range of shifts. Sometimes my OH has the same days off as me in which case we'll catch up on any jobs at home, usually go out for lunch 1 of the days.

There's things I'm interested in like tarot card reading but I literally do nothing other than shopping, housework, scrolling through drivel on FB or Insta. Might watch a bit of Netflix.

I have money, I drive but I don't know where to start with things, with something that makes me feel proud or energised or educated or anything! I get past the point of boredom.

Anyone else?

No same I have 11, 5 and 4 year old. I work part time but this is school hours so drop kids off by 9. In work at 9.10 finish at 2. Quick go game grab lunch then do school run from half 2 don't get home till 4 as 2 are in primary and one in high school in two villages . By time get home it's snacks teas baths and beds. Not really much time do anything. Partner works 12 hours days so out 6am till 6pm so I've done everything by 6 and getting his tea done I'm shattered and doing kids beds anyway. I do want to join the gym but unless his days off fall at weekend so he can have kids and I go out I can't really.

I feel exactly the same way Clair! I have twins who are 11 and work 2 days a week. On my days off work I have found myself becoming very bored and low with doing housework and chores. I would love to have something else in my life to give me an interest and passion. When the children were younger I had no time to myself but as they are getting older and finding myself at a loose end and very bored! I would like to work more but my husband isn’t very supportive about this, not quite sure why? Any suggestions….?

Yep I’m the same! I think you just get caught up in the family and house that mum comes last. That’s certainly it for me.

I went to one life drawing class back in January with a friend and it was a wonderful evening and so refreshing to be doing something just for me. I haven’t done it since, even though I booked and paid for the next class.

my youngest is 7 so maybe in a few years I will start something again when I have less responsibility of driving the kids everywhere to their hobbies

Join a choir! Doesn't require lots of equipment, expense etc. It's not too much commitment, usually a hour practice a week. It's sociable, and it's a proven mood booster. You don't have to be a brilliant singer either and if you do get into it there may be concerts or competitions to attend to take your interest further.

Me! I have no hobbies either. I have a 4.5 year old and and pregnant with number 2 due any day now... also work full time when not on mat leave. So I don't feel I have time for any hobbies at the moment. Hoping to get back to gym after the baby is born but can't really see me doing much else long term! I used to love painting but never do it anymore.

No you're not alone. I am another one 😊

What do you enjoy? What helps you wind down? You could join a book club. Join a local walking club. Do you like retail therapy? Attending local car boots or charity shops is a cheap way to indulge if you enjoy that sort of thing.

When my husband was making plans with his friends to play a board game or go skating, I used to find myself moaning that he always has time for himself and I never do - he rightly pointed out that he is not stopping me doing anything and suggested I get a hobby.

When I really had a think about it, I didn't really want to do anything new.

I love nothing more than to have a good binge of a TV show (that isn't a kids TV show) or watching a new film. If I had more time I would read more but I'm just exhausted at the end of the day, TV does it for me. Is it boring to some people? Probably. But it makes me happy so I don't care.

Comparison really is the thief of joy, don't look at others and their hobbies and think you're boring, if you're happy then it's enough.

Try different things and then you can find what you really like
