Hi, I'm new on this site, and this is my first post.

I have one child born in 2018. He was born with multiple birth defects. Me my husband and my son were tested for genetic problems but the test came back negative. His making good progress but is globally delayed and is profoundly deaf.

I had a second pregnancy in 2021, my pregnancy was good and healthy. I'm type 2 diabetic but I managed that very well, diet and exercise. But sadly something went wrong at the last minute. I went in to hospital with bad pains and straight away I was taken to the operating theatre for an emergency c section. I didn't see my little girl she was taken to a different hospital for treatment I was told she will not make it through the night. She was again moved to a different hospital after few days( GOSH) she survived for 7 weeks. Cause of her death was unknown they never gave me a answer to what went wrong.

My husband and I would like to have more kids but im going to me 40 this year and im not sure what to do. I would love to have another child but im so scared. Anyone been in a similar situation please share and advise

Thank you

Hi Miz G,

I’m Kayleigh, one of the parent supporters at Netmums. Thank you for sharing with us and welcome to the Netmums, we have a supportive community of parents here and hopefully some of our lovely members will be along soon to share their own experiences and advice.

I am so sorry for your loss. You have been through so much and I hear you that the prospect of conceiving again feels really scary. Many mums are now deciding to have children later in life, don’t feel like your age rules out the possibility of another pregnancy if you decide this feels right for you.

Have you had any support or counselling after the loss of your little girl? You went through such a traumatic time and you deserve space to process all of this. Having this support may also help you to feel more emotionally ready to try to conceive. The Lullaby Trust offer free expert help, they have a chat line or email you can connect with, 0808 802 6868. I have requested for your thread to be moved into our drop in clinic, please let us know if we can support you further with this

Take care,

Kayleigh

This is so sad to read my dear please accept my deepest sympathy and I hope the 1st baby gets all the help that's need for you all and in your shoes I'd feel exactly the same after two very difficult experiences and you have been so unlucky on the parent front its going to take a lot of strength to do it again and possibly more strength to not do it again I hope you'll be guided by the professionals on this matter and what ever you choose to do brings you either fulfilled or acceptance xx
