What you'll need for Easter card making

The gallery below shows exactly what you'll need for each idea, but in general, the following supplies are handy for crafting your Easter art:

  • White paper or card
  • Coloured paper or card
  • Paper plates
  • Scissors
  • Paint (especially in yellow, pink, orange and blue)
  • A marker pen and felt tip pens
  • Googly eyes
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Plasticine or playdough (again, in different colours. You can even make your own playdough )
  • Scissors, child-friendly glue and sticky tape or Washi tape

Top tips and safety precautions for crafting with kids

  • Always supervise toddlers and younger kids while they're crafting. Small items like googly eyes and pipe cleaners can easily find their way into a child's mouth, so keep a careful eye on them to reduce the risk of choking .
  • Be sure to put down plenty of newspaper or plastic sheeting before you start. A cheap tarpaulin or tablecloth can be a great option. It's surprising how far paint can go when kids are involved, so you'll want to protect not just the table where they're working but also a wide area of the floor underneath. Keep kitchen roll or baby wipes close at hand for any emergency clear-ups.
  • Dress the kids in old clothes or give them an apron to protect their regular outfit. An old adult T-shirt is an easy way to protect clothes if you don't have an apron to hand.
  • Be sure to praise your child's effort on their Easter cards. The whole point is to be creative and have fun. If they've done that, they've made it a happier Easter for everyone!
