What is the best way and information needed to be successful in year 7 admissions appeal? We met every criteria and live stone throw from school and still never got in. We are going to appeals panel and only want to focus on what can change appeal instead what we think could change. Any help would be great as people charging £1-£2,500 just to advise you.

thanks

Each appeal is unique.

Each argument the school provides as to why they can not take another child is unique.

The school should provide the reasons why you were not accepted ( because it was over-subscribed) and the panel verifies if it was correctly applied and legal.

Failing this you are looking at perverse. Was the decision to refuse another child perverse? This is beyond reasonable but secondary is easier than KS1.

Any argument you provide needs solid evidence naming the school and the reasons why that school is named. This can be from a Doctor, Social Worker, etc

Unless you have a good evidenced reason and the school case is weak or sometimes no cohort info is provided, you will struggle. The panel can consider lots of information that admissions can not but most healthy, mobile children can go to any school.

Mental health is hot at the moment especially with covid but this needs to be evidenced.

There is nothing to improve your case if there are no medical, social, MH, mobility,SS, vulnerable issues with detailed evidence.

The premise is all schools can cater for any child regardless of their Ofsted rating.
