My baby pulls herself across the carpet now, and she likes grabbing our shoes. I put her into her pack and play and she was playing with her toys, she sleeps in there too.

i went to put her in there tonight and there was a small slug, presumably a baby one. I don’t know if it was on my baby’s clothes and she transferred it to the crib or if she had touched it… but either way I threw the thing in the bin and wiped the area where the slug was on her mattress with a dettol wipe, Milton wipe and a baby wipe (just to make sure lol)

im trying not to think about it but I know they can carry parasites. I just hope since it was a small baby it was all clear of disease

She could’ve touched it and then put her hands near her mouth…. I’m worried

Hi Emily,

I’m Kayleigh, one of the parent supporters at Netmums. I can hear this has been a nasty shock and you are worried for your baby’s health. As babies begin to move around they can end up bringing treasures along with them, or as you say the slug may have transferred from her clothes. Although you’ve done the right thing in cleaning pack ‘n play, I want to reassure you that it’s very unlikely that your little one will become unwell.

A typical garden slug is not toxic, what they do carry generally cannot survive long in the human body according to The Centers for Disease Control (you can read more here: https://homeguides.sfgate.com/slugs-poisonous-humans-86751.html )

Wishing you all the best,

Kayleigh
