How to make Easter games easier for younger kids

Many of you will have younger kids playing, and they may not have a fair chance of winning some games if older kids get in first.

Here are some ideas of easy to give the little ones a chance:

  • Give younger kids a head start on Easter egg hunts or races.
  • Add rules – like older kids not being able to 'find' eggs that are hidden below their waist or knees.
  • Give little ones a bigger spoon for egg races – for example you could give them a ladle or cooking spoon instead of a teaspoon.
  • For Easter egg hunts make sure the eggs are brightly coloured so they're easily to spot.
  • Team younger kids up with an adult or older child for support so that they can join in the fun.
  • For pin-the-tail on the bunny type games, guide the blindfolded child in the right direction and offer some extra help if they're struggling the pin the tail.
  • If little ones find it difficult to hit the 'bunny skittles' maybe give them three goes.
  • Try to have kids of similar age groups play games together so it's more equal.
  • Watch out and prepare for potential accidents – like playing sack races in the garden on grass to cushion any falls, and making sure if a game involves throwing a ball or egg, that it is lightweight and less likely to hurt if someone gets hit by accident.
  • Let younger kids make an attempt by themselves and ask if they want your help – you'll be surprised what they're capable of!
