How to make homemade edible cookie dough just like Ben & Jerry's

250g plain flour

120g unsalted butter, room temperature

250g brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp double cream

1/2 tsp salt

125g chocolate chips

Place the flour in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high in 30 second bursts for 1 min 15 secs (this will ensure there is no bacteria in the flour). If you have one, use a food thermometer to check the flour has reached a temp of 74°C.

In an electric mixer or using a hand mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the vanilla, cream, and salt. Mix to combine. Then add the flour and continue mixing it all together.

Chuck in the chocolate chips. The more the merrier! Fold them into the dough.

Mould into ball shapes with your hands.

Serve and enjoy. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

Tips
Don't skip the first stage. Because the cookie dough is eaten raw, microwaving the flour kills off any bacteria in the flour.
Variations
You can use whichever chocolate chips you prefer, dark milk or even white.
