Bread and butter pudding
This is such a simple dish and great for using up stale bread - try it today...

100g sugar

6-8 slices of buttered bread (any type is fine)

1 tsp cinnamon (optional), ground

50g sultanas (optional)

2 eggs
-
500ml whole or semi-skimmed milk

Lightly grease a baking dish and preheat oven to 190'C/Gas mark 5

Mix together the sugar and cinnamon

Cut your buttered bread in half (triangles are good)

Layer the bread in the dish adding some of the sugar mix and sultanas on each layer

Whisk together the eggs and milk and pour over the bread

Leave to absorb for 10 minutes

Pop in the oven for 35-45 minutes, until the pudding is set and browned

Serve with custard, ice cream or cream
