Things to do with kids in St Albans: fab family ideas

The Hertfordshire city of St Albans is renowned for its Roman heritage.

It was the first major town outside London for Roman travellers heading north, and later became known as Verulamium.

Verulamium Park is still one of the jewels in the St Albans’s crown: there, you’ll find the remains of the city walls and the beautifully restored Roman hypocaust, along with the Verulamium Museum, a lake, play areas and a splash park which opens in the summer months.

The city centre is the home of St Albans cathedral and abbey, the mediaeval clock tower, and a thriving market that people flock to from miles around. Bargain hunters will also enjoy browsing the regular car boot sales in the area, where you can snap up second-hand treasures.

You’ll find loads of things to do with kids in St Albans. Willows Activity Farm is hugely popular with young families, and the Warner Bros Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Pottter is within easy reach.
