Whether you’re already following a vegan diet or have recently decided to join in Veganuary but are worried you or the kids might miss those supper time saviours – the ones that are easy to rustle up but everyone LOVES – fear not.

We’ve found five great dairy-free, meat-free, plant-based recipes that are every bit as delicious as the original version.

Not only that, because they’re vegan, they're great for you and equally great for the planet, too.

All you have to do is decide which one to cook up first …

1. Vegan sausage casserole

Nothing beats a sausage casserole on a cold winter's day and thanks to vegan alternatives, you can still enjoy this tasty feast, meat-free, dairy-free, egg-free but most definitely not taste-free.

This vegan sausage casserole recipe uses vegan sausages and a rich and herby spicy sauce that add bags of flavour into the dish.

Not only that, it's dead easy to make, too.

Here’s how to make it.

2. Cheese and potato bake

This might be a meat-free favourite with Netmums but even a veggie dish needs some tailoring to make it vegan-friendly.

Luckily there are plenty of great dairy-free substitutes that mean you can get all the comfort factor of melted cheese, while still being true to your veganism!

This recipe claims it's 'so thick and "cheesy” you would never know for one second it wasn’t “the real thing”'.

It's all thanks to the vegan cheese sauce that contains almond milk, vegetable stock and yeast – as well as vegan parmesan for the topping.

3. Chicken(less) curry

Sometimes you just can't help a curry craving – even if it is on the milder side for the kids. That's where Quorn comes in handy this Veganuary ...

Its heartwarming Vegan Masala Curry is mild yet full of flavour - and can be ready in just 30 minutes. Result!

4. Vegan tuna pasta bake

Who doesn't love a pasta bake? But how can you pimp it up if you don't eat or are giving up tuna for a vegan diet? Not to mention how do you get it to taste creamy without cheese?

This vegan 'tuna' pasta bake uses dairy-free cheese and a super clever tuna substitute using chickpeas and capers. Yum.

Try the recipe for yourself right here.

5. Meatless doner kebab

These days being vegan doesn't mean missing out on much at all, thanks to meat and dairy-free substitutes.

Take the much loved doner kebab, for instance.

This clever recipe uses braised tofu as a meat substitute and soya yoghurt for a creamy sauce.

Alternatively, this Kebabish Style Quorn Crispy Nuggets recipe pays homage to the meaty kebab using veggie ingredients. Switch the yoghurt to soya yoghurt and it quickly becomes vegan.
