Hi, please tell me I'm not the only one....

I feel complete lost in every aspect of my life.

I have a 11yr old and have been a stay at home mum the full time. Genuinely feel like someone's pressed fast forward on my life the past 5 yrs and not sure how I even ended up like this. I'm overweight and can't seem to do anything about it. I have absolutely no friends what so ever. I never leave the house unless to walk the dog. The cost of living has obviously hit us hard but find I haven't even the confidence to apply for a job. I'm also in a unhappy loveless relationship. He works and seems to hold everything I spend/eat over my head. I know it sound stupid but it's like my brains been switched off for years and I don't know what to do. Started waking up with the worse panic feeling ever that hits me like a ton of bricks every single bloody morning. Feel so lost and like I'm drowning.

Hi Leanne,

Everything you have said here makes complete sense, it doesn't sound stupid at all. You left work to stay at home and take care of your little one, because that suited your family at the time. Your child is getting a bit older now and a bit more independent and you are feeling ready to move forward too and change your routine, but because you are so used to this routine, that is such a daunting change!

You absolutely deserve to have friends and find yourself again, but right now, you are battling with those negative thoughts in your head and trying to figure out where to start. Have I understood that correctly Leanne?

Something that you have shared does sound quite worrying though, it sounds like your partner is quite controlling around things like food and finances and this isn't ok. He doesn't sound supportive of your happiness and well being. You have described your relationship as unhappy and loveless, so it is totally understandable that your confidence has taken a knock.

Sometimes when we look at the whole picture of things that we feel need to change, this can feel utterly overwhelming. It can be easier to make really small changes which often then lead to bigger things.

What did you used to enjoy before you became a mum Leanne?

If you could describe yourself at the beginning of your relationship, what words would you use?

I promise you that you aren't the only person to feel the way that you do right now, but you don't have to feel this way forever.

What is one thing you would like to change, no matter how small?

Walking the dog is a great part of your routine, but you are still feeling very isolated and down. Leanne, do you feel you could make an appointment to chat with your GP about how you are feeling?

Please do keep talking to us here, we are listening.
